Am I the only one who uses cardboard scrapers taped to the sides of the screens to build a clean off contact rather than constantly adjusting and readjusting the crappy off contact bolt(s) on a manual press?

I line up several cards in a continuous column long enough to run the entire length of the frame edge to edge (front to back, in the direction of squeegee motion), then tape the column to one side of the screen and repeat for the opposite side. I make sure the cards line up outside the artwork far enough not to screw with the print, but still inside the squeegee width so the squeegee actually glides along both columns as it shears the ink. It works nicely to keep a fairly consistent off contact and since the squeegee glides on top of the column, any inconsistent (too much) shearing pressure against the mesh doesn't deform it beyond the off contact gap (which obviously defeats the purpose of having off contact in the first place).

Does anyone else do this... or something similar?
